Effective immediately, UFA SPORTS in Germany will go by the name of SPORTFIVE GmbH. Having last year merged with the two French companies Sport+ and Groupe Jean-Claude Darmon to form SPORTFIVE S.A., the sporting-rights broker will henceforth present itself in Germany under the banner of a new name and a new look.

‘We have our sights firmly set on becoming the world’s No. 1 marketing outfit for sporting rights – a goal we aim to underscore by adopting a globally consistent brand profile’, says Bernd Hoffmann, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SPORTFIVE and managing director of SPORTFIVE GmbH, of the name change. ‘At the same time, however, we will consolidate our core business and continue to provide the kind of professional support for our partners and customers to which they have become accustomed. So the ball will continue to roll.’

The parent company, SPORTFIVE S.A., headquartered in Paris, owns TV and marketing rights for over 320 football clubs and 40 associations as well as rights for other top sports, such as basketball, handball, rugby and tennis. The company spearheads the European market, with a staff of 350 employed at more than 20 subsidiaries in 13 countries. Listed on the Paris bourse, its main shareholders are the media corporations RTL Group and Canal+ Group.

The Hamburg-based subsidiary, SPORTFIVE GmbH, holds marketing partnerships with the Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund, Hertha BSC Berlin, Hamburger SV, 1. FC Nürnberg and Arminia Bielefeld as well as partnership contracts for heavy-weight champions Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko.
