The PGA Tour of Australasia today announced the resignation of well respected Director of Tour Operations, Trevor Herden.
Herden has accepted a position as Assistant Tournament Director with the US Tour.
PGA Tour of Australasia Chairman, Mr Wayne Grady, said Herden leaves with the Board’s full support.
‘Trevor has been with the PGA Tour of Australasia for 13 years and his appointment to the US Tour is a fantastic career opportunity,’ said Mr Grady.
‘The US Tour is the most high profile Tour in the International world of golf.
‘Everyone associated with golf, whether they be a player, caddie or rules official, aspires to be involved on the US Tour and it is a great credit to Trevor and a positive reflection of the PGA Tour of Australasia that his ability has been recognised,’ added Mr Grady.
Herden has been a regular visitor to the United States over the past ten years where he has officiated at the US Masters, US Open and the President’s Cup. Additionally he has officiated at the past 10 British Opens and a number of World Golf Championship events.
Herden said the US Tour opportunity was too strong to resist.
‘It is a great honour to be asked to join the US Tour,’ he said.
‘The interest in golf continues to surge around the world, particularly in the United States where Tiger Woods is one of the world’s best and most recognised athletes.
‘It will be an exciting challenge and I’m sure I’ll be warmly welcomed by the growing number of Australasian Tour players who secure their playing rights on the US Tour.
‘The PGA Tour of Australasia is in very good shape and I look forward to ensuring a smooth transition period with my successor over the next couple of months,’ he added.
PGA Tour of Australasia Chief Executive, Mr Andrew Georgiou, said Herden will complete his duties in November and the search for his replacement will commence immediately.
