CONFEDERATION OLYMPIC QUALIFYING ROUND DATES REVISED – MATCHES BEGIN MARCH 21 IN TRINIDAD & TOBAGO The dates of the next round of qualifying matches for the Olympic Football Tournament, Sydney 2000, have been revised. The Confederation of North, Central American Caribbean Association Football qualifying will kick off in Trinidad & Tobago on March 21st when Canada takes on Guatemala, followed by Netherlands Antilles against the host team. Five teams will emerge from Group A in Trinidad & Tobago, Group B in Mexico and Group C in Panama to join the United States in the final qualifying group, which will be played in Hershey, Pennsylvania, from April 21 to April 30, 2000. From that final group, the two Confederation representatives for Sydney 2000 will be determined. The revised schedule and groupings follows: GROUP A. Trinidad and Tobago (host), Canada, Guatemala, Netherlands Antilles – March 21-25, 2000 at Havelange Center of Excellence, Port-of-Spain March 21 Canada vs. Guatemala (4:00pm); T&T vs. Netherlands Antilles (6:00pm) March 23 Canada vs. Netherlands Antilles (6:00pm); T&T vs. Guatemala (8:00pm) March 25 Guatemala vs. Netherlands Antilles (6:00pm); T&T vs. Canada (8:00pm) Top two (2) teams to advance to the final group. (All local times) GROUP B. Mexico (host), Costa Rica, Jamaica, Honduras – April 4-8, 2000 (Estadio Jalisco or Estadio 3 de Marzo-TBD), Guadalajara April 4 Jamaica vs. Costa Rica (6:00pm); Mexico vs. Honduras (8:30pm) April 6 Costa Rica vs. Honduras (6:00pm); Mexico vs. Jamaica (8:30pm) April 8 Jamaica vs. Honduras (6:00pm); Mexico vs. Costa Rica (8:30pm) Top two (2) teams to advance to the final group.
