USA Gymnastics will unveil a new logo and branding statement in June to reflect the changing personality of the organization on the eve of what could be one of the most significant years in USA Gymnastics history.
‘USA Gymnastics has become a larger and more diverse organization over the past couple of years. With the addition of the trampoline, tumbling, and sports acrobatics disciplines, not only has the number of members increased, but the personality of the organization has changed,’ said USA Gymnastics President Bob Colarossi. ‘With our new logo and branding statement, USA Gymnastics now truly represents the broad-based opportunities in the sport.’
The new logo is designed to portray the precision, flexibility and movement that are characteristics of gymnastics. Its red and blue coloring represents the patriotic nature of the organization, while the figure represents the core athlete that participates in every discipline within gymnastics.
The new branding statement, ‘Begin Here. Go Anywhere,’ reflects the lifelong physical and moral rewards that the sport encourages. The tagline is incorporated into the logo design, with the legs beginning at a very fine point, and continuing through the arms toward infinity.
‘USA Gymnastics is poised to bring renewed success at the elite level in the next two years,’ Colarossi said. ‘With the upcoming World Gymnastics Championships in Anaheim, Calif., and the Olympic Games next summer in Athens, Greece, we are confident this new identity will be reinforced by many medal-winning performances.’
The logo was designed by Cranfill & Company of Indianapolis, with input from USA Gymnastics staff, members, and public sector representatives. Cranfill & Company is a fully integrated marketing and brand management firm whose client list includes the Indianapolis Symphony, the Heartland Film Festival, and the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
The new logo will be unveiled to the public and membership on June 19 at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Milwaukee. Supplemental logos for specific programs and joint ventures will be developed in the near future.
