The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has announced the launch of an affiliate deal with the Bank of Scotland (BoS) which will provide crucial funding to the development of new talent for British tennis.

Through the deal, the BoS will become the official credit card partner of the LTA, with the launch of a new LTA Platinum credit card. As the card is used, money will be donated to the Performance Trust, a scheme to develop young British tennis talent. Card holders will also benefit from competitive interest rates and free travel care.

Andrew Thomas, Commercial Manager at the LTA said: ‘The LTA is delighted to welcome the Bank of Scotland as its official credit card provider. The extra funding that the credit card will generate is excellent news for both the Performance Trust and British tennis as a whole. We expect the credit card to prove extremely popular amongst our members.’

Ian Hossack, Head of Business Development at HBoS said: ‘We are pleased to be able to support British tennis through this partnership. The credit card is a great offering that enables card holding tennis fans to put something back into tennis at absolutely no extra cost to themselves.’

The Performance Trust will receive £5 for every credit card that is signed up, a further £5 if the card is still in use after 12 months and 25p for every £100 spent on the card.

The Performance Trust has been established in order to be able to identify and develop financially disadvantaged but talented young tennis players who have the potential to reach and compete to their maximum level. The beneficiaries of the Trust will each receive a world class training and development programme, delivered through the LTA’s network of Performance Clubs.

The credit card has an introductory interest rate of 0% p.a. on transferred balances and purchases for the first nine months. After this the card has a competitive 12.9% APR on purchases, no annual fees plus free travel care when abroad.
