Infront BuLi GmbH,a wholly owned subsidiary of Infront Holding AG, confirmed two important agreements in Germany concerning the German Football Bundesliga broadcast rights.
The agreements are the first agreements for the Bundesliga to be announced since Infront took over the worldwide exploitation of the Bundesliga broadcast rights from KirchMedia in January of this year,as a result of Infront’s recently completed management-supported buyout that was backed by Robert-Louis Dreyfus.
ZDF -the German public broadcaster has exercised its option, ahead of its contractual deadline, to air highlights of the Germany Football Bundesliga for the 2003/04 season during an exclusive delayed window on
their programme ‘Das Aktuelle Sportstudio.’ This is the same highlights package that ZDF held previously for the Bundesliga, further ensuring the continuity for the League’s coverage to its fans.
T-Online -an agreement with T-Online International AG was also finalised giving football fans the unique chance to view highlights of the Bundesliga from their personal computers through T-Online’s high-speed broadband service. The agreement, which is non-exclusive,allows T-Online to feature up to five minutes of highlights footage per match on a one-hour delayed basis.
The service -which is available to paying subscribers through T-Online’s internet services at www.t-vision.de
and www.t-online.de -goes live starting 12 April 2003.
‘The Bundesliga is a new property in the Infront portfolio and one that we are very excited about. It fits into our
company’s strategy of representing ‘A-List’properties with strong international appeal. We look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to seek the widest possible coverage for Germany’s professional league,’ commented Oscar Frei,CEO of Infront Sports &Media AG.
