At the recently held Executive Committee meeting (November 13th & 14th) in Erzurum, Turkey, host city of the 2011 Winter Universiade, the FISU Board attributed the following World University Championships:

6th WUC Beach Volleyball to Maceio, Brazil
10th WUC Equestrian to Aachen, Germany
5th WUC Floorball to Prague, Czech Republic
21st WUC Handball to Blumenau, Brazil
12th WUC Rowing to Banyoles, Girona, Spain
5th WUC Rugby 7 to Brive-la-Gaillarde, France
12th WUC Taekwondo to Pocheon, Korea
11th WUC Triathlon to Yilan County, Chinese Taipei
9th WUC Wrestling to Kuortane, Finland

2014
13th WUC Taekwondo to Hohhot, Inner-Mongolia, China

The following events were endorsed by FISU as well:
2010 Sell Games in Estonia
2010 International Judo University Cup in Salvador de Baia, Brazil

Finally the FISU EC appointed Mr. Eugen Fleischer (SUI) as the new Technical Chair for Chess.

Prior to the Board meeting, the EC members visited the construction sites of the venues for the 2011 Winter Universiade and got an excellent impression of the works in progress. Due to the favorable weather conditions so far, the construction process is on time.

‘The overall progress in construction work is clearly visible and we are very satisfied with the advancement in general’, Kairis Ulp, Chair of the Supervision Committee said. The EC was satisfied with the planning of the Athletes’ Village on the campus of Atatürk University as well, which will welcome more than 3,000 participants.
 
With a great support of the political authorities on all levels, the OC under the leadership of the General Coordinator Bekir Korkmaz gave all the guarantees to FISU that the 2011 Winter Universiade is well on track. The FISU EC accepted the proposed logo and the mascot of the Winter Universiade and approved the general sports program. The next visit for the Supervision Committee is planned for mid March 2010.
