Draw to be held in Tokyo on 12 October
The draw for matches 1 and 2 of the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2006 will take place on 12 October at 2pm at the Japan Football Museum (Football Ave, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo 113-8311).
The draw will be followed by a media conference in which the following officials will take part:
– Dr Viacheslav Koloskov (Russia), chairman of the Organising Committee for the FIFA Club World Cup and member of the FIFA Executive Committee
– Saburo Kawabuchi (Japan), president of the Japan Football Association and member of the Organising Committee for the FIFA Club World Cup
– Junji Ogura (Japan), member of the FIFA Executive Committee and vice president of the Japan Football Association
– representatives of the clubs who have already qualified
The winners of match 1 will meet the representatives of the South American football confederation (CONMEBOL), Internacional (Brazil), in the semi-finals, while the winners of match 2 will measure themselves against UEFA and Europe’s representatives, Barcelona (Spain).
In addition to the winners of the UEFA Champions League and the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores, the second FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held from 10 to 17 December in the Japanese cities of Tokyo, Toyota and Yokohama, will pit Club America of Mexico (winners of the CONCACAF Champions Cup), Auckland City of New Zealand (winners of the OFC Club Championship) and the winners of the AFC and CAF Champions Leagues (which will be decided in November) against one another.
