Eurosport, the 24 hour sports events television channel, will debut on 15 April, in Singapore on StarHub, the country’s leading Pay TV platform.

Eurosport, which offers both sports events channel, “Eurosport”, as well as the 24-hour sports news channel, “Eurosportnews”, currently broadcasts in nine markets in Asia. The new deal means viewers in Singapore will be able to benefit from access to a much wider variety of sports with “live” events on almost a daily basis.  Eurosportnews is already currently a part of the Family Plus digital group on StarHub.

“We are thrilled about the partnership with StarHub enabling us to bring our unique sports offering to viewers in Singapore”, says Arjan Hoekstra, Managing Director of Eurosport in Asia-Pacific.  “Eurosport is dedicated to bringing “live” coverage of world class events with a program line-up offering a true variety of at least 60 different sports at their highest level of competition such as Athletics, Cycling, Motorsports, Rugby, Equestrian, Sailing, Swimming and lots more. Eurosport is sure to expand the horizon of the sports viewers in Singapore!”

“StarHub stays true to our commitment to offer the most comprehensive sports coverage on local television. We constantly strive to add more value for our customers, and the addition of the Eurosport channel to our Sports Group is a clear sign of this. With the diverse range of sports events on Eurosport, sports viewers in Singapore will enjoy even more variety and choice than ever before,” said Patrick Lim, StarHub’s Vice President of Cable TV Services.

The increasing digitalisation of television has expanded horizons for many sports fans and as Asian viewers become more eager to watch a wider variety of sports, Eurosport extends its reach in the Asia-Pacific market reaching all the Sports Group customers using the digital set-top box, HubStation or high definition set-top box on StarHub.  Eurosport is available on various platforms throughout Asia-Pacific, such as in Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia and Malaysia,

Following the launch of Eurosport (StarHub Digital Cable Channel 113) on 15 April, the number of channels packaged in StarHub’s popular Sports Group will be increased to nine.  Eurosport will “complete” the portfolio of sports offered in the Sports Group.  StarHub Sports Group customers will access Eurosport using their digital set-top box, HubStation or high definition set-top box and they will have access to major international sports events such as the women’s tennis WTA Tour, Rugby Heineken Cup, the cycling world Tour of Italy and much more.
