Crown Golf has acquired American Golf UK from American Golf Corporation (“AGC”) and NGP Realty Sub (“NGP”). The combined group will be Europe’s largest golf club operator, operating and professionally managing 55 golf courses over 31 properties across the UK, with 27,000 members and 1,500 employees.
Crown Golf, which is owned by The Bennelong Group Pty Ltd, a privately held Australian investment company, was advised by Chantry Corporate Finance and DLA.
Commenting on the acquisition, John Weir, Chief Executive of Crown Golf, said: “We have great admiration for what American Golf has achieved in the UK. The acquisition provides a tremendous opportunity to combine best practice from two of the industry’s leading operators and set a new bench mark for golf management. The combined group will be very strong financially, creating an excellent platform for future acquisition and consolidation and allowing us to continue to invest in and improve the current portfolio of courses.”
AGC and NGP were advised by Close Brothers Corporate Finance and Wiggin & Co.
