Leading global credit insurer announces six-figure sponsorship of European Tour event
Atradius has announced that it will be an official sponsor of the 2006 Celtic Manor Wales Open Golf tournament. The £1.5 million European Tour event takes place at the Celtic Manor Resort from 1-4 June 2006. As well as being an official sponsor of the event, Atradius is also sponsoring the main hospitality pavilion and will have extensive on-course signage.
Last week, Colin Montgomerie was joined by Rachel Hunter and Jodie Kidd to launch The Celtic Manor Wales Open 2006. With a world class field, a new tournament identity inspired by the pop art of Roy Lichtenstein, an expanded Ladies Day, the Junior Wales Open presented by Coca Cola and the announcement of new sponsors, this year’s event looks set to become the most high profile tournament ever held at The Celtic Manor Resort.
Colin Montgomerie, the most successful golfer in Europe in 2005 and currently ranked number 18 in the world, will be joined on the drawsheet for The Celtic Manor Wales Open by reigning champion Miguel Angel Jiménez, six-time major winner Nick Faldo and current US Open Champion Michael Campbell who becomes the first reigning major champion to appear at the tournament in its six year history.
Commenting, Allyson Bancroft, Group Marketing Manager, Atradius, said: “This sponsorship is an excellent opportunity to gain significant international exposure for Atradius. The Celtic Manor Wales Open Tournament has built up a global reputation and the Roman Road course at The Celtic Manor Resort is seen as world class. The Atradius Pavilion will host all the key hospitality of the Tournament and as such will be a real focus for all those attending”.
Jon Phelps, Director of The Celtic Manor Wales Open and Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at The Celtic Manor Resort said: “We are delighted that Atradius has announced that it will become a sponsor of The Celtic Manor Wales Open. The decision is a significant endorsement of the growth in stature of the event as a leading European Tour event
“This year has seen a considerable expansion in our sponsorship activity. Luxury Spa brand Payot has also been announced as sponsor of our third Ladies Day, which will take place on Saturday June 3rd and Coca Cola has come on board as presenting sponsor of the Junior Wales Open which takes place on our Wentwood Hills course on the same day”.
