The British Olympic Association is pleased to announce that the following shooters have been selected to represent Great Britain as members of Team GB at the forthcoming Olympic Games in Sydney.

Michael Babb: Small Bore Rifle Prone

Peter Boden: Olympic Trap

Drew Harvey: Skeet

Richard Faulds: Double Trap

Ian Peel: Olympic Trap

Simon Clegg, Team GB’s Chef de Mission for the Sydney Olympic Games, said: ‘The British Olympic Association is delighted to welcome these shooters into Team GB for the Sydney Olympic Games. We hope these athletes will carry on the good form they have shown on the international circuit over the last few years.’

Biographical information on Team GB Shooters:

Michael Babb – Born 14/10/63. Michael’s best performances include a silver medal at the 1999 European Championship and a silver at the World Cup in Milan this year. Michael trains at Appleton Rifle Club near Warrington in Cheshire and his trainer is double Olympic medal winner Alister ‘Jock’ Allan.

Peter Boden – Born 18/9/47. Peter has participated in four previous Olympic Games and is a former World Champion. He is based in Bedworth, Warwickshire. Peter finished eighth in Atlanta and thirteenth in Los Angeles.

Drew Harvey – Born 26/8/78. Drew started shooting at 13 and was World Junior Champion in 1998. He won silver at the Senior World Championships in 1999. He has already won a bronze medal at the World Cup event in Sydney this year. Lives in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.

Richard Faulds – Born 16/3/77. Richard has been shooting since he was 12-years-old. He was European Champion in 1997 and has been a World Cup winner on two occasions. He won bronze in the 1998 World Championship and was a finalist in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Richard trains at his home in Andover, Hampshire and is the ex-world record holder in Double Trap.

Ian Peel – born 18/1/58. Ian, who is based in Blackburn, Lancashire, but trains in Beverley, East Yorkshire, competed in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. He won the European Championships in 1996 and has already won the World Cup event in Sydney this year.
