FIFA/CIES International Master – Start of the Sport Law module in Neuchâtel (Switzerland)
The 26 students of the 4th edition of the FIFA/CIES International Master (MA) in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport will start today, in Neuchâtel (CH), the Sport Law module. The current students, representing 19
nationalities, started this prestigious postgraduate course in October 2003 at De Montfort university in Leicester (UK), where they were taught Humanities of Sport (ethics, sociology and history of sport). After the
Christmas break, they moved on to Milan (IT) and the famous Management school of SDA Bocconi to cover all aspects of Sport Management (strategy, marketing, finance and organisation of sport).
Today, they will be welcomed by Sport Law specialists, and will be presented the content of the Sport Law module. This module covers many legal aspects, as diverse as the statutes of sport associations and federations, the civil
and penal responsibilities, the employment contracts (club-athletes-agents), the rights of personnality, the sport and health (incl. the legal aspects of doping), the commercial contracts (sponsorship-licensing-TV rights), the
various methods of dispute resolution (arbitration, litigation, mediation), etc.
This Master degree offers a unique educational opportunity to explore all aspects of the sports world. It strikes a fine balance between theory and practice, with lectures from top professors and leading sports executives, and promotes mutual learning from fellow students, who come from all corners of the world.
The graduation ceremony for the students of the 4th edition of the FIFA/CIES International Master will take place in Neuchâtel (CH) on Monday 12th July 2004.
