Over the past few months there has been an ongoing review of the structure within the Edinburgh Reivers to ensure that we are making best use of all the resources that are available. The review has identified the need to re- structure the coaching functions to take the Reivers to their next stage of development. The coaching team of Ian Rankin, Bob Easson and Henry Edwards will continue but their roles have been developed. Ian Rankin will take up a new position as Head of Rugby for the Reivers with particular responsibilities for player identification and recruitment, planning and preparation for next season and club liaison. He also continues as Scotland A forwards coach. Bob Easson will assume the role of Head Coach and will devote 100% of his available time to the planning and preparation of the Reivers squad for matches and reviewing of performance. He will continue with his duties with the Scottish Institute of Sport. Henry Edwards will continue as Forwards Coach for the Reivers and will work closely with Bob in the day to day planning and preparation and reviewing of performance. He will continue as forwards coach for Scotland U19’s. As the game develops there is a need for a more expanded structure in the professional game and the Reivers have identified these needs. The coaches need time to develop the squad on a day to day basis, to identify players for the future within the amateur and professional game and to plan for the future. This re-structuring will allow Edinburgh Reivers to develop to meet the challenges ahead. Nick Oswald, Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Reivers said, “As any organisation does, we constantly have under review all areas of the club’s activities. We have identified a positive need within the coaching area and are taking advantage of this need, using existing personnel, to develop our squad for the future”.
