LONDON 29 MAY 2014: run2work is delighted to welcome Sweatshop (www.sweatshop.co.uk) as the latest Official Partner to join the run2work movement.

Sweatshop is offering a 15% discount on all footwear until 31 October 2014* to people joining in #run2workday at www.run2work.com/run2work-day, adding to Virgin Active’s complimentary Guest Pass for you and a friend and Audible’s free audiobook download you receive. Sweatshop is encouraging all its customers to join in this summer’s series of #run2workdays and support run2work’s petition for the Government to ‘Make Running to Work Tax-Free, like Cycling to Work’.

Barclays, Capita, GE, Virgin Group and Vodafone, employing 300,000 staff between them, are just a few of Britain’s biggest businesses encouraging staff to take part in #run2workday, starting Thursday 5 June 2014. Launched by Boris Johnson and Olympians including Perri Shakes-Drayton and Hannah England, #run2workday is a not-for-profit campaign encouraging people to get active through running to or from work, whether part or all the way, and inviting them to make the first Thursday of each month their #run2workday.

More than 750,000 people in the UK Cycle to Work, with 500,000 of those doing so through an employer Cycle to Work scheme, and run2work believes the Government should introduce a similar tax incentive to create behavioural change and encourage more people to lead a healthier lifestyle through running to work. run2work has re-launched its petition on change.org at http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/uk-government-department-of-transport-make-running-to-work-tax-free-like-cycling-to-work

Nick Pearson, Managing Director of Sweatshop, said: "Sweatshop is passionate about finding ways that encourage more people to run, we feel it is critical to the health and happiness of the UK. We are delighted to be supporting the run2work movement which we believe is a fantastic way of doing this. #run2workday is a great campaign to encourage people to put at least one day a month in their diary as their day to run to or from work, whether part or all of the way. All our staff are ready to help people of all standards choose the best shoes and equipment for them in any of our 40 stores nationwide or online at www.sweatshop.co.uk"

Gordon Lott of run2work, said: "Sweatshop is the leading sports retailer in the UK, providing one of the biggest ranges of running shoes with expert staff to guide them, so to have their support for the run2work movement is a huge endorsement for what we’re trying to achieve, which is to put running to work on the map, and inspire and incentivise more people to get healthy through running to work".
