Yadea, the Chinese electric two-wheeled vehicle manufacturer, has become the latest regional sponsor to partner with soccer's upcoming 2023 Women’s World Cup (WWC), after striking an agreement with global governing body FIFA.

The deal will see Yadea become a tournament supporter across Asia-Pacific for the event, which is being co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.

It will be the third time Yadea has served as a regional sponsor for a FIFA World Cup, having done so for the men’s editions in 2018 (Russia) and 2022 (Qatar). However, it will be the first time it has supported the women’s event.

Jerry Zhou, president of Yadea Overseas Business Group, said: “The conveyed inclusiveness, happiness, and fairness resonate with the mission of Yadea, initiating an enjoyable and green commuting lifestyle for the world.

“The essence of the tournament is also part of Yadea’s genes; the spirit of ‘beyond’, the strong willpower of conquering difficulties and challenges, and the perseverance of breaking down barriers and limits.”

As a tournament supporter, Yadea joins the likes of Frito-Lay, Cisco, Jacob’s Creek, Team Global Express, BMO, and Optus in a lower tier of FIFA’s sponsorship hierarchy.

Second-tier WWC partners are credit firm Visa and software company Xero, while third-tier event sponsors are meditation app Calm, AI solutions firm Globant, and outdoor furniture supplier Keter Group.

The overall top-tier partners of tournament organizer FIFA are sportswear giant adidas, soft drinks giant Coca-Cola, and Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group.

FIFA chief business officer Romy Gai said: “The FIFA WWC in Australia and New Zealand is going to be incredibly popular across the region, and Yadea is the perfect partner in helping to bring a refreshing and young audience to the women’s game’s pinnacle event.”

The deal comes as the two host countries and FIFA prepare to stage the first edition of the women's tournament to feature 32 teams (previously 24) after the governing body’s decision to expand the competition. It will take place across nine host cities and 10 stadiums in the two countries.
