The World Rugby governing body has today unveiled a multi-year tie-up with events technology and solutions firm Wiz-Team.
Through the deal, Switzerland-based Wiz-Team becomes the rugby union body’s tournament management system (TMS) official supplier.
This involves Wiz-Team delivering logistical and operational services for all World Rugby’s major events during the partnership. The brand’s Event-Works management solution will apparently handle issues such as workforce and volunteer organization, accreditation management, and media operations.
Wiz-Team has said its aim is to “support World Rugby’s digital strategy in centralizing, standardizing, and enhancing” the governing body’s push to digitalize its main tournament operational services.
Mark Huddleston, director of events services at World Rugby, has said: “These data management services will play an integral part within World Rugby’s operations as we transition to our new hosting model for future tournaments and streamline our operational and implementation mechanism."
Tim Goethals, Wiz-Team’s chief operating officer, added: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as a long-term supplier by World Rugby and look forward to helping them make the best use of our integrated solution. It’s about enabling replication, scalability, and efficiency while leveraging the power of configuration to meet the demands of an ever-changing sports event and entertainment world.”

By GlobalDataLast month, On Location, the premium hospitality and events business owned by global sports and entertainment giant Endeavor, invested in Wiz-Team.
The investment involves Wiz-Team’s technology and software being integrated “across the On Location portfolio,” focusing on guest registration and communication, accreditation, accommodation, and access control.
Wiz-Team’s existing sporting partnerships – across the Commonwealth Games, and with sailing’s SailGP – will be used to aid it in this tie-up.
