The St. Louis City SC franchise of the US’ Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced a new partnership with battery firm Energizer, which now becomes the title sponsor of the team’s CityPark home stadium.

The 22,500-capacity venue will now be known as Energizer Park, with Energizer branding incorporated into its logo across operations.

Energizer will also sponsor a new hospitality seating section at the stadium.

St. Louis City SC did not make the 2024 MLS postseason playoffs, and as such Energizer’s partnership with the club will be ramped up ahead of the 2025 MLS campaign, which will begin in February.

The CityPark is among the best-attended stadia in MLS, having sold out for 34 consecutive matches following St. Louis City’s entry to the league ahead of the 2023 season.

The stadium and its surrounding stadium district is described as “the largest urban professional sports campus in the US and the only one with a stadium, team headquarters, and practice facility within the same development.”

Energizer is based in St. Louis, and Energizer Holdings president and chief executive Mark LaVigne stated: “This is truly an exceptional moment for Energizer as we find new ways to engage our community, connect with our consumers, and expand the reach of our iconic brand.

“MLS and soccer in the U.S. are experiencing tremendous growth, especially as North America prepares to host the FIFA World Cup in 2026. We are thrilled to be part of it all with City SC.”

Prior to the debut of St. Louis City SC a 15-year naming rights deal for CityPark had been agreed with healthcare company Centene in February 2022.

Centene, however, backed out of the deal in October 2022 after only eight months as the company looked to “reshape” the partnership, although it came amid engineering problems at the stadium as it was still under construction.

Beyond club soccer, the stadium has also hosted a number of national team soccer fixtures, including US men’s national team (USMNT) games Concacaf Gold Cup national team competition.

The next of these will be the USMNT’s fixture against Jamaica on November 18 this year in the Concacaf Nations League.

Other prominent partners of St. Louis City SC include front-of-shirt partner Purina and ticketing partner SeatGeek.
