The Indian arm of German sportswear giant Puma has agreed a multi-year deal with the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) to become its official kit partner.
Through the tie-up, Puma will provide apparel, accessories, and footwear to all AFI competitors (of which there are over 400) across a variety of track and field disciplines in international and domestic events.
The partnership does not, however, cover the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, nor the quadrennial Commonwealth Games and Asian Games regional events, both of which will next take place in 2026.
Sports agency IOS Sports and Entertainment brokered the agreement.
Speaking on the deal, Puma chief executive Arne Freundt stated that India is one of Puma’s “most dynamic markets”, signifying the value of the country to the brand’s future plans.
Freundt has worked for Puma for more than 10 years and became chief executive and chairman of the brand in November 2022, succeeding Bjorn Gulden who left for rival adidas.
