North America’s Major League Baseball has entered into a long-term sponsorship deal with cryptocurrency exchange platform FIX.
The deal will see FTX patches feature on the uniforms of MLB umpires throughout the regular season, postseason and spring training, starting with the MLB All-Star Game on 13 July.
FTX is the MLB's first cryptocurrency sponsor and will have rights to incorporate the MLB logo in its marketing campaigns.
FTX will receive brand exposure across MLB games, MLB.com, the MLB Network and across the MLB multiple social media platforms.
Furthermore, in a deal with MLB Players Inc, a subsidiary of MLB Players Association, FTX will feature player highlights in its content.
Welcoming the deal with MLB, Sam Bankman-Fried, chief executive and founder of FTX, said: "It's an honour for FTX to be the first cryptocurrency exchange to be associated with the history and tradition of America’s national pastime. MLB chief revenue officer Noah Garden added: "This is an incredibly exciting announcement for everyone in Major League Baseball as we partner with a global leader in the early stages of their unbelievable growth. It is the latest major deal for FTX, which recently became the official and exclusive cryptocurrency exchange partner of the National Basketball Association's Miami Heat.
In addition, the team's home, formerly known as the American Airlines Arena, will become the FTX Arena, starting with the 2021-22 season.
