The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) governing body for the sport in those countries has announced a new partnership with the data technology and business service firm Cognizant to support the ongoing digitalization of its business.
Cognizant will serve as official digital technology transformation partner and official IT consulting partner for the ECB, aiding the body in its digital technology innovation initiatives and helping to implement new affordances into its operations.
The deal is aimed at strengthening the operations of cricket in England and Wales at the grassroots level.
Cognizant will also become the key strategic partner for the ECB’s recreational game systems program, through which it will apply new digital systems for use by those who administrate recreational cricket clubs in order to streamline the efficiency of running the game at the grassroots.
Speaking on the deal, ECB director of digital and data Alison Crowe stated: “The ECB is delighted to collaborate with Cognizant to advance its digital technology transformation. Cognizant brings a wealth of experience in this space and hugely impressive credentials.
“It’s a new approach for us to be able to work with a partner in this way and the digital and data and technology teams at the ECB are excited to be working with Cognizant, to help transform the recreational game.”

By GlobalDataCognizant managing director for the UK and Ireland, Rohit Gupta, added: “Together, we aim to serve its community better with personalized digital experiences that can scale with the ECB’s evolving technology landscape and the needs of everyone involved in the great game.
“This will mean the ECB can make playing and organizing cricket more enjoyable and streamlined, and also unlock new and deeper engagement for cricket communities with their services and commercial offerings.”
Cognizant is not new to the cricket industry and just this year became a title sponsor of the United States’ Major League Cricket competition.
The ECB, meanwhile, unveiled property website Zoopla as a commercial sponsor last week.
Other significant sponsors include Cinch, Rothesay (unveiled in early July), MetroBank, Vitality, Castore, and Laithwaites.
