European top-tier golf's DP World Tour has unveiled a new Indian tournament, to take place for the first time in Delhi in October with a total prize fund of $4 million.
The DP World India Championship, to be held at Delhi Golf Club between October 16 and 19, will be part of the second phase of the 2025 DP World Tour season, the Race to Dubai, and will have the highest prize fund ever for an Indian DP World Tour event.
The event, co-sanctioned by the Professional Golf Tour of India, follows on from the success of the Hero Indian Open earlier this year (March 27-30), also in New Delhi. It has been launched by the tour alongside logistics heavyweight DP World – the tour's title sponsor for the last three years, which will also fulfil that role for this tournament specifically.
It also represents the DP World Tour's return to the Delhi Golf Club for the first time in nine years.
The tour has said this strategic move "underscores India's growing influence as a destination for elite golf and as a strategic market for DP World."
Among the firm's Indian sporting tie-ups is a commercial partnership with the Delhi Capitals, of Twenty20 domestic cricket's iconic Indian Premier League.

By GlobalDataBen Cowan, chief tournament and operations officer at the DP World Tour, said: "DP World has been crucial to the development of this exciting new event, and we look forward to building on our shared vision to grow the game in the country."
In terms of the tour's commercial activity, March saw Turkish Airlines agree to title-sponsor the 2025 Turkish Open, returning to the tour's schedule for the first time in six years, next month.
Earlier this month, meanwhile, Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer Aldar was announced as a tour partner.
