Commonwealth Bank (CommBank) has announced it will end its commercial partnership with the Cricket Australia (CA) governing body after 37 years.
The long-running tie-up will conclude at the end of June 2025.
CommBank, the longest-standing partner of CA, first partnered with the organization in 1987 and has been one of the biggest contributors to the sport domestically.
Sydney-based CommBank was keen to extend the deal with CA and presented what it believed was a good offer, but the company is set to be replaced by Westpac, according to reports in the country.
Westpac is close to being announced as the exclusive banking partner of CA in a multi-year deal that will see its logo appear on the shirts of men’s and women’s teams.
A CommBank spokesperson told the Sydney Morning Herald: “We were keen to continue our long-standing relationship with CA and made a very attractive offer to them, but they have decided on commercial grounds to go in a different direction.”

By GlobalDataThe bank said it will continue in sport and is “looking forward to new opportunities.”
Since teaming up with CA 37 years ago, CommBank has helped grow the women’s game significantly, which included making Australia’s single largest investment in women’s sport and diversity programmes.
Its logo currently features on the shirts of the women’s national team, known as the ‘Southern Stars’, in all competition formats.
Over the years, CommBank has also sponsored the men’s test series and supported the Australian women’s team in 2020 when they won the T20 World Cup final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
In a statement, Nick Hockley, chief executive of CA, said: “When CommBank joined forces with Cricket Australia in 1987, it was a year for the history books. Lyn Larsen led the women’s team to victory against England in the Women’s Ashes, and Allan Border captained the men’s team in their first Cricket World Cup victory.
“Cricket has come a long way since then – and we’re incredibly grateful to CommBank for the role they’ve played in driving the game forward.”
Earlier this year, CA appointed experienced marketing executive Ed Sanders as chief commercial officer.
CA has secured several key commercial deals this year, including expanded tie-ups with Japanese car manufacturer Toyota, and tech firm HCL, in a pair of deals that cover both the men’s and women’s national cricket side and the BBL.
