Chevrolet, the US car brand owned by General Motors, has been named as a founding partner of Angel City FC (ACFC), the expansion franchise that has joined the US National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) for the 2022 season.

The new partnership will see the pair work together to help fans travel to games from across the Los Angeles area, with Chevrolet providing funds to transport up to 100 fans to each home game.

Announcing the partnership on its Twitter account, the club said: “It is important to Angel City FC to make every home game accessible to our Los Angeles community.

“Angel City FC has partnered with Chevrolet, the official vehicle of ACFC, to offer select nonprofits and youth teams free transportation to and from the stadium.”

As part of the tie-up, Chevrolet will provide the club with new vehicles for the team’s community outreach programs.

Chevrolet will also contribute to ACFC’s pregame fan events outside the stadium before home games and General Motors Financial will hold workshops for ACFC players and staff.

There are also plans to develop a five-part series called Cruisin’ LA, which will feature the team and its players, as well as matchday content.

Catherine Dávila, ACFC head of community, said: “Together with Chevy, we are ensuring that the youth and families of our impact partners in some of the most traditionally underserved areas of the city get to take part in all aspects of the ACFC experience.

“We are grateful to Chevy and the GM family for their support of ACFC on so many levels and really look forward to bringing the partnership to life.”

ACFC currently top the NWSL attendance table, with more than 18,000 fans per home game.

Chevrolet joins the likes of Crypto.com, Birdies, Heineken, Jane Walker, Klarna, Gatorade, and Curateur as a partner of the team.

Last week, ACFC’s away defeat to fellow expansion side San Diego Waves at Snapdragon Stadium broke attendance records for the NWSL after 32,000 spectators watched the game.

The previous attendance record for an NWSL match was 25,218 when the Portland Thorns beat the North Carolina Courage 2-1 at Providence Park during the 2019 season.

The 2022 NWSL season started on April 29 and will run through to October 26. ACFC currently sit eighth in the league after 21 games.
