The short-form matches will not be aired across any other WWE broadcast partners.

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) promotion has struck a weekly content deal with X, the social media heavyweight formerly known as Twitter.

The deal entails creating an exclusive weekly video series to air on X, known as WWE Speed. That will involve timed matches, completed in five minutes or less.

There will be a new episode every week, 52 per year, and the matches will not be aired elsewhere across WWE’s stable of partner networks.

The live-action series is expected to debut in the next few months and will likely feature well-known WWE stars.

This announcement comes soon after WWE and content hub Netflix unveiled a major deal, through which the flagship weekly Monday Night Raw program will leave linear TV for the first time.

The agreement, beginning in January 2025, will see Netflix broadcast the weekly three-hour live show both domestically, as well as across Canada, the UK, and Latin America. More regions are due to be added throughout the length of the contract, which has been widely reported as 10 years.

Netflix’s deal for Raw, which at 31 years old is one of the world's longest-running weekly episodic sports television shows, is reportedly worth $5 billion.

As part of its package, Netflix will also hold rights to WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown and NXT weekly shows in Canada, the UK, and Latin America, as well as its slate of premium live events, including the iconic WrestleMania annual event.

X, meanwhile, has a deal in place to amplify coverage of the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics in Paris this year on NBCUniversal, the US rights-holder.

Specific elements of the NBCU-X deal include pre-games countdown coverage, in-game highlights, and an exclusive X Live show on NBC Olympics featuring highlights, athlete interviews, and interactive engagements.
