Rugby union’s World Rugby governing body has announced the appointment of global ticketing giant Ticketmaster’s sports arm as the official ticketing service provider for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup (RWC25).

With ticket applications opening on November 5, 2024, Ticketmaster Sport will manage the sales process for the English tournament through its sales platform.

That preliminary ticket application process will include a limited amount of tickets to the event’s showpiece final.

Beyond the simple provision of tickets, Ticketmaster’s in-built data and technology aims to help ensure a smoother fan experience for ticket purchasers and improve ease of access to the event’s host venues.

World Rugby has stated that it is expecting a “new match attendance world record for women’s rugby” at the September 27 final at London’s iconic 82,000-capacity Twickenham Stadium.

The body added that more than 65,000 tickets to the RWC25’s opening games and finals matches have already been sold through a presale window conducted in September, a record figure.

Speaking on the new partnership with Ticketmaster, RWC25 managing director Sarah Massey stated: “Ticketmaster is playing a key role in World Rugby’s vision to grow the women’s game globally, by making the sport more accessible and more relevant to a wider audience.

“The public response to the tournament’s opening and finals matches presale has been incredible with over 65,000 tickets snapped up in September with more to be announced soon. It is a record for Women’s Rugby World Cup, clearly cementing the event as the must-see sporting event of 2025 in the UK.”

The Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, hosted across England, will be the first to utilize eight different venues for the hosting of games.

World Rugby has claimed that “95% of the country is within two hours” of an RWC25 host location, with Twickenham Stadium joined by venues in Brighton and Hove (AMEX Stadium), Bristol (Ashton Gate Stadium), Exeter (Sandy Park), Manchester (Salford Community Stadium), Northampton (Franklin’s Gardens), Sunderland (Stadium of Light), and York (York Community Stadium).

The competition will kick off on August 22, 2025, at the Stadium of Light.

Ticketmaster is not new to rugby, currently serving as the official ticketing partner of English men’s rugby union’s top-flight Premiership competition.

The company is also utilized by both the England Rugby and Welsh Rugby Union governing bodies.

England was awarded preferred candidate status by World Rugby in November 2021, before being confirmed as the event host in May 2022.
