Global media conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has renewed its broadcast partnership with electric single-seater racing series Formula E covering 50 European markets.

WBD has been a broadcast partner of Formula E since 2015, with the renewed deal set to take that partnership into at least 2027.

WBD's coverage of Formula E will be aired across its Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 channels, as well as on its multiple streaming services: Max, Discovery+, Eurosport Extra, and the Eurosport app.

In eight European markets, WBD will be the exclusive broadcast home of Formula E, including Italy, wherein the racing series will be broadcast live for the first time since 2020.

WBD’s other exclusive markets are Denmark, Finland, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Spain, Turkey, and the UK via the broadcaster's TNT Sports channel, which secured a deal to air all races exclusively through the 2024 season in December.

Trojan Paillot, WBD Sports Europe’s senior vice president for rights acquisitions and syndications, stated: “We are proud to house one of the most comprehensive multi-market motorsport portfolios anywhere which delivers year-round action to millions of fans across Europe.”

“We’re delighted that we can further extend our partnership with Formula E to continue leveraging our world-class production expertise and passionate motorsport storytelling ability to scale coverage to the widest possible audience.”

Formula E chief media officer Aarti Dabas added: “Eurosport has been a key player in growing our European fanbase since 2015 and which helped achieve record live audiences for Formula E racing last season. We are delighted to extend this major media partnership with WBD and will work together to continue building the Formula E fanbase across Europe.”

The 2024 Formula E season will see 16 races take place, the same number as the 2023 season, but one fewer than was planned for, after the local government of India’s Telangana region backed out of hosting the 2024 Hyderabad E-Prix.

That race had been scheduled to take place on February 10, 2024, as only the second Formula E race to take place in the country, however, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, which is controlled by the Telangana government, told Formula E organizers that it would not be fulfilling the host agreement, with the newly elected Telangana government changing tact from the previous administration.
