Wasserman, the US-based sports marketing giant, has today unveiled the acquisition of UK women's soccer-focused representative agency Volante Sports.
Through the deal, Volante director Luca Rosso will become Wasserman’s vice president of women's soccer.
Volante’s roster of women's soccer clients includes players such as top English striker Alessia Russo.
That stable will be added to Wasserman’s existing roster in terrms of women’s soccer, which currently features US national team icons such as Alex Morgan and Lindsey Horan.
Richard Motzkin, vice president of women's soccer in Europe for Wasserman, has said: “I have no doubt that the addition of Luca, his team, and their clients will help further grow our women’s soccer practice globally and continue to provide precedent-setting deals and opportunities for our clients.”
Luca Russo added: “Wasserman has long been a leader in global soccer – especially with regard to elevating women’s players – and it’s a privilege to be part of what I consider to be the premier representation practice in the industry.”
Wasserman’s women’s sport-focused practice is known as The Collective.
In October, Wasserman completed its deal to acquire the UK agency CSM Sport and Entertainment.
The acquisition of Volante Sports represents Wasserman’s 13th in the past two years.
Late last month, meanwhile, Wasserman, launched a new cricket division through a rebranding of cricket talent agency Phoenix Management Group.
The company will be rebranded as Wasserman Cricket, with the division to be led by Phoenix founder and managing director Neil Fairbrother as executive vice president and managing executive.
