Wasserman, the international sports agency, has announced the acquisition of Canadian hockey player management firm Momentum.

The strategic partnership sees the Montreal, Quebec-based agency immediately incorporated into the Wasserman Hockey brand, with the two combining their expansive National Hockey League (NHL) client rosters.

Olivier Fortier, Momentum’s owner, now becomes co-owner and vice president of the division, while fellow co-owner Charles-Olivier Roussel becomes the senior director for hockey.

Wasserman Hockey was launched in 2018 and boasts the likes of seven-time NHL All-Stars Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers) and Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs), both of whom are former number one draft picks.

Momentum, meanwhile, has high-profile mostly Canadian talents such as Alexis Lafrenière (New York Rangers) on its books, all of whom will now be represented by Wasserman Hockey.

All current Momentum staff will also make the move over to Wasserman.

Speaking on the acquisition, Wasserman president for global talent representation Jason Ranne stated: “There is a long-held mutual respect between Wasserman Hockey and Momentum Hockey. They are a homegrown, client-first hockey agency with a tremendous presence in Quebec.
