European media heavyweight Viaplay has struck a deal in Norway around numerous events organized by the International Skating Union (ISU).
Through a new three-year agreement, Viaplay will cover action from various top-tier international and continental ice skating events in Norway through the 2026-27 campaign.
Coverage starts with the ISU World Cup Speed Skating event in Beijing, China this weekend.
Viaplay held these rights between late 2019 and early 2023, before deciding not to renew a pan-Nordic contract.
Prominent sports marketing agency Infront is the ISU's top events media rights distribution partner through 2026-27, in all markets except Canada, Japan, Korea, and the US.
In terms of the ISU’s broadcast and TV strategy, late October saw the body announce a new partnership with UK-based TV sports production and media firm Sunset+Vine.
Recent Viaplay activity in Norway, meanwhile, includes a new carriage deal with pay-TV provider RiksTV earlier this month.
