The United Talent Agency (UTA), the major entertainment talent agency with an interest in sport, has entered the soccer market by acquiring Representatives Of Outstanding Footballers (ROOF).
Through the acquisition, ROOF is set to integrate with the UTA’s Klutch Sports Group, the agency’s subsidiary in sports since 2019.
ROOF represents approximately 150 clients across the English Premier League, Spanish LaLiga, Italian Serie A, French Ligue 1, and German Bundesliga, with a roster of approximately 130 players, and roughly 20 coaches and managers.
The firm currently operates from offices in Munich, London, and Madrid, and has intentions of further international expansion.
Following the UTA acquisition, ROOF will continue to operate under the same name and founding leadership team, who will become shareholders in UTA.
ROOF co-founder and managing director Björn Bezemer said: “This exciting partnership gives us access to industry-leading resources and expertise to better serve our clients and broaden our reach globally.
“With ROOF partners becoming shareholders in one of the most transformational agencies in global sports and entertainment, we are excited to bring our industry-leading football representation to this team.”
Andrew Thau, UTA chief operating officer and co-head of UTA Sports, added: “Building out our global sports platform is a critical part of UTA’s growth strategy, and welcoming ROOF’s agency and management team into our ranks marks another pivotal moment for UTA Sports.”
The UTA has made several international moves over the last few years, with the company opening new offices in London in 2023, and the previous year UTA became the first major US talent agency to acquire a “top European talent firm” in the UK’s Curtis Brown Group.
