The US team from the international SailGP series has brought in global financial solutions firm Apex as a partner for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Through a deal unveiled yesterday, Apex will have access to hospitality experiences through the US team, as well as other “unique engagement experiences” such as tech tours and guest ride-alongs.

In addition, the US team and its athletes will have a presence at Apex Group events during the partnership.

The 2024-25 SailGP season, which will begin next month with a race in late November in Dubai, is set to contain three US events - Los Angeles and San Francisco in March, and New York City in June.

The US team, meanwhile, which was among the six founding sides in the series, was acquired last November by a wide group of investors from the sport, technology, and media industries in what was touted as the sailing league's biggest such tie-up so far.

The Avenue Sports Fund, led by Avenue Capital Group chief executive Marc Lasry, was the lead investor, with other members of the investment group including founding Uber engineer Ryan McKillen, two-time world champion sailor Mike Buckley, world champion boxer Deontay Wilder, former US soccer player Jozy Altidore, Muse Capital’s Assia Grazioli-Venier, entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, and NFL stars DeAndre Hopkins, Malik Jackson, Roquan Smith, and Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Other commercial partners for the organization, meanwhile, include Red Bull, T-Mobile for Business, and Tommy Hilfiger.

In the 2023-24 SailGP season (the series’ fourth), the US outfit finished eighth in the 10-team table.
