The UK Athletics (UKA) governing body has today announced a new rights deal with the BBC, the UK public-service broadcaster, for its 2024 major events series.
Through the agreement, the BBC will show the UK Athletics Indoor Championships, the UK Athletics Championships, and the London Athletics Meet across its platforms.
The broadcaster will provide coverage on its linear BBC One channel, iPlayer streaming service, and digital platforms.
The events will begin with the UK Athletics Indoor Championships in Birmingham on February 17 and 18.
This will be followed by coverage of the Olympic Trials at the UK Athletics Championships on June 29 and 30, before the London Athletics Meet as part of the Diamond League series on July 20, at the London Stadium.
The deal sees the BBC reunite with UKA after it ended its previous £3 million ($3.8 million) per year broadcast deal with the governing body at the end of 2020.
Jack Buckner, UKA chief executive, said: “We are thrilled to confirm BBC Sport as our broadcast partner for our 2024 major events series.
“It’s a huge year ahead for our sport and we are looking forward to working with the team at BBC Sport to bring our big events into people’s homes. The BBC Sport digital and TV audiences give us a great platform and allow the British public to really follow the action in the build-up to the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
The UK Athletics Championships will be held just six days before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics which will take place from July 26 to August 11.
The BBC also holds rights to the World Athletics Championships and World Indoor Championships under a deal with the sport's global governing body.
