The games canceled include Israel's home European Championship qualifier against Switzerland.

UEFA, the governing body for European soccer, has announced that a number of matches slated to take place in Israel over the coming weeks have been postponed.

Israel’s home European Championship qualifier against Switzerland, scheduled to take place on October 12, is the highest-profile game to be postponed.

Also postponed are the Israel Under-21s age category meetings against Estonia (October 12), and Germany (October 17), as well as an Under-17s category mini-tournament that the country was set to host between October 11 and October 17.

UEFA stated that these fixtures will be rescheduled at a later date to be confirmed “in due course.” The postponements are owing to the ongoing security situation in the country.

The governing body is continuing to assess whether Israel’s lone away fixture of the break, against Kosovo on October 15, should also be postponed.

The current international fixture period is set to last until October 17, with the next such international break coming on November 13, lasting for just over a week.

The internationals in November will be the last European international soccer fixtures until March 2024.

The current round of matches in Israel’s top-tier domestic soccer competition, the Israeli Premier League, have also been postponed.
