TV2, the commercial broadcaster in Norway, has secured domestic rights to men’s tennis’ top-tier ATP Tour in a three-year deal.

The agreement will run from 2024 to 2026 and covers a range of ATP Tour events.

Under the deal, the broadcaster will show the season-ending ATP Finals, all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, all 13 ATP 500 events, ATP 250 events, and the Next Gen ATP Finals.

In total, the agreement includes more than 50 tournaments and 2,500 live matches each season.

The contract was agreed with ATP Media, the tour’s global broadcast production and distribution arm.

TV2 will replace Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), the multinational media and entertainment giant, as the ATP Tour rightsholder in Norway.

There is significant interest in men’s tennis in the country currently, with the presence of Norwegian Casper Ruud, who is currently ranked number five in the world.

The 24-year-old has won 10 ATP Tour singles titles and finished runner-up at three grand slams and at the 2022 ATP Finals.

Vegard Jansen Hagen, TV2 sports editor, said: “TV2 is happy to finally be able to include tennis in our rights portfolio. With Casper Ruud, Norway has a man at the top of the tennis world, and for TV2 it is important to also have ownership of sports rights where Norwegians assert themselves on the very biggest stages.

“We look forward to covering Casper and a new generation of tennis stars who are fighting against established players.”

In May, TV2 in Denmark extended its rights to the ATP Tour through 2026.

Despite losing rights in Norway, WBD is set to renew its ATP Tour deal in France for the 2024-2028 cycle.

Soccer stands as the most active and main beneficiary of the payment sector's sponsorship spend

Engagement with the payments sector is not a new trend for sports rights holders, considering the year 2023, the sector remains one of the most profitable partners to the sports industry, with close to $2.5 billion commitment through 1385 active partnerships. Soccer is the primary recipient of the payment sector's $2.5 billion commitment to the sports industry in 2023, with soccer deals accounting for over 30% of total payment sponsorship value. Some of the largest payment sector companies, such as MasterCard and Visa, are at the forefront of sports sponsorship, aligning with popular sports entities to boost customer preference and increase their market share globally.
