The Turkish Football Federation (TFF), Turkish soccer’s governing body, has announced a new partnership with the country’s national flag carrier, Turkish Airlines.
The one-year partnership deal covers the 2024-25 season, with the country’s national sides utilizing Turkish Airlines for their international travel needs.
Over the coming year, Turkey's men’s national team will play fixtures in the UEFA Nations League against Wales, Iceland, and Montenegro - a group it is widely expected to win - as well as beginning qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in a yet to be decided group that will kick off in March 2025.
TFF president Ibrahim Ethem Haciosmanoglu stated: “The brand value of Turkish soccer was not where it deserved to be in the past years, on the contrary, it was in a difficult situation. This was also the case in the world and Turkish soccer had lost its prestige.
“As the Turkish Football Federation, together with our friends on the board of directors, we aim to take Turkish football to the top in a fair, just and principled manner, taking Turkish Airlines as an example.
Turkish Airlines has sponsored the TFF since 2014, with the latest extension taking the partnership to over a decade.
The prior renewal, signed ahead of the 2023-24 season, was estimated by GlobalData Sport to be worth $4.2 million, however, the period covered the UEFA European Championships which Turkey competed in, meaning it potentially may have been higher than previous or the subsequent renewals.
Turkish Airlines is one of the main sponsors of the Turkish men’s national team, alongside sportswear giant NIKE (which also recently renewed for 2024-25), car giant Mercedes-Benz, and Turkish brands such as mobile phone operator TurkCell and banking firm Deniz Bank.
The airline is also no stranger to sports sponsorships, supporting as many as 16 national sports federations in Turkey including the TFF.
Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines chair, added: “As Turkey’s national flag carrier, we are committed to supporting Turkish sports and our national athletes. Continuing our long-standing sponsorship with TFF is a source of pride, and we are excited about the positive impact this partnership will have in the coming season.”
