The Sports Consultancy (TSC), the London-based commercial advisory firm, has promoted Matt Wilson to managing director.
In his new role, Wilson will continue to oversee consulting, and will also aim to help chief executive and founder Angus Buchanan and the rest of the senior leadership team “forge ahead with further ambitious plans and initiatives as the company continues its rapid growth and transformation.”
The promotion, unveiled today, coincides with Wilson’s 10-year anniversary at the company and comes after “considerable financial growth in the last 12 months.”
Wilson joined TSC from global professional services firm Deloitte in 2014 and has been credited with playing an instrumental role in driving the growth of the agency, including two office moves.
Buchanan said: “Matt has helped develop our overarching consulting offering into a large and sophisticated division with strategic, commercial, and event pillars which are ably led by each of our directors.”
In terms of its activity over the last few years, TSC was notably appointed to provide support and advisory services for the UK and Ireland’s successful bid to host the 2028 UEFA European Championships national team soccer tournament.
The firm also partnered with the World Anti-Doping Agency last year, being awarded exclusive global representation rights for its corporate partnership program.
TSC was also hired in 2023 by Volleyball World to assist in the bidding process for the Men’s and Women’s Volleyball World Championships in both 2025 and 2027.
The company has additionally been involved in the process to select host cities for the 2025 and 2026 editions of European club rugby’s top-tier Champions Cup and second-tier Challenge Cup finals.
The competitions' finals were eventually awarded to Cardiff's 74,000-capacity Principality Stadium and San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, in February.
