TGL, the tech-infused golf league founded by golf icons Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports entertainment venture, has brought in electronics giant Samsung as the official screen partner of the competition’s inaugural season.
The indoor golf competition which utilizes a commercial-grade Samsung LED display at its specially-built Florida venue, will begin on January 7, 2025.
In addition, Samsung screens will be featured across the venue on field of play boards, team benches, and on the venue’s 600-foot exterior video wall.
Speaking on the deal, Samsung America head of display division David Phelps stated: “Samsung displays play a key role in amplifying excitement among spectators of the sport, turning every TGL match into a dynamic spectacle, comparable to other arena-based, team sports events.
“Together, we’re helping create a new kind of golf viewing experience to captivate longtime enthusiasts while inspiring a new generation of fans.”
TGL will be shown on ESPN and ESPN+ in the US, with initial plans to begin in 2024 having been scrapped due to storm damage to the host venue.
Samsung is the 12th commercial partner TGL has secured ahead of its debut, with others including Best Buy, Dryvebox, and, most recently, SynLawn.
Best Buy, a deal valued by GlobalData Sport as worth $600,000, is a founding partner of the competition alongside Genesis, and Businessolver.
SoFi, meanwhile, is the series’ presenting partner and the naming rights partner for its venue.
TMRW Sports and TGL chief revenue officer Jason Langwell added: “Adding Samsung, a global leader in electronics and design, to our growing roster of partners underscores our commitment to excellence as we continue to build out our commercial program for TGL presented by SoFi.
“Samsung’s expertise and high-quality products are tremendously valued and will be integral to the TGL experience inside SoFi Center and the in-home viewing experience for fans around the world.”
