Sport 24, the in-flight and on-ship entertainment service owned by international sports agency IMG, has today announced a tie-up with European soccer’s governing body UEFA, covering the men’s 2024 European Championships national team tournament.
Through the deal, Sport 24 - as well as its additional Sport 24 Extra channel - will show 50-plus matches from the 24-team tournament, which will be held in Germany between June 14 and July 14 this year.
This represents a renewal, with Sport 24 having held the same set of rights for the 2016 and 2021 Euros.
This deal marks another addition to Sport 24’s existing soccer rights portfolio, which includes the English Premier League, UEFA’s Champions League top-tier club tournament, and competitions organized by the Asian Football Confederation. It also showcased the FIFA Women’s World Cup in mid-2023.
In terms of other sports, meanwhile, Sport 24 also covers motor racing’s Formula 1, ice hockey’s NHL, and UK tennis’ Wimbledon, amongst other properties.
The CAA Eleven agency is UEFA’s agency partner responsible for selling national team event rights.
The opening match of the Euros will see hosts Germany face Scotland at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The final will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
