Snapchat to provide Paris 2024 content in Europe through extended WBD deal

WBD-owned Eurosport and TNT Sports will launch and activate on Snapchat for the next two years.

Global media giant Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has expanded its partnership with social media platform Snapchat for another two years, covering multiple regions and centered around the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Covering several prominent European markets including host nation France, and the UK, the partnership will primarily be facilitated through WBD’s pan-European broadcast property Eurosport which holds Olympic rights in several territories in the continent.

Eurosport will showcase a selection of daily top highlights on Snapchat throughout the games to add variety to its coverage of the quadrennial sporting showcase.

The broadcaster will also launch a weekly show on Snapchat localized in France and the UK titled Beyond the Olympics, combining coverage from across WBD’s portfolio of rights outside of the Paris games to drive interest in WBD’s wider sports offerings.

WBD-owned UK sports broadcaster TNT Sports will also launch on the Snapchat platform thanks to the extended tie-up, promoting its coverage of top-tier international club soccer, club rugby, and other held sports rights in the market.

The deal extends Snapchat’s range of Paris 2024 coverage, which also includes UK free-to-air commercial network Channel 4 for its Paralympics coverage, and US media giant NBCUniversal for its own Olympics and Paralympics offering, the latter a deal that was also struck with social media platform X (then known as Twitter).

In the UK, Channel 4 will publish curated content from its Paralympics coverage to Snapchat.

The US audiences of X and Snapchat, meanwhile, will be connected to NBCU’s Olympic and Paralympic coverage next year in the French capital, as well as to the athletes, host city, and the games’ “most unforgettable moments.”

The Paris 2024 Olympics will begin on July 26 and run through August 11, while the Paralympics will follow with its own opening on August 28 and ending on September 9.
