Italy’s Serie A has become the latest major European soccer league to agree a content partnership with Minute Media, the digital media brand owner, to boost its presence in North America.

The tie-up will aim to increase Serie A viewership and digital engagement across the media company’s portfolio of sports content brands in the region.

Minute Media’s global soccer network 90min will add a Serie A-specific vertical to its site, capturing pre-match content, with information on where to watch the games for US audiences and tune-in information for broadcast.

90min will also produce ranking tables about Serie A, focusing on US, Canadian, and Latin players to cater to the North American audience.

As an official content partner, Minute Media will utilize licensee content for use on its properties. This includes highlights of regular season matches and Serie A US events including training, press conferences, and watch parties.

Serie A this season features several US national team players including AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah and Juventus' Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah.

Minute Media last year agreed a content partnership with Germany’s Bundesliga.

Andy Mitchell, chief executive of Serie A USA, has said: “Partnering with Minute Media offers us massive scale to reach soccer fans and grow the league in North America.

“Showcasing the top players from the North American region excelling in Italy, the quality of play, and the unique football/soccer culture on a scaled platform is a great opportunity.”

Andres Cardenas, Minute Media'a chief marketing officer, added: “This partnership marks the beginning of an innovative offering for Serie A fans in North America as they seek more content from the players and teams they love.

“With a record number of US national team players finding a home in Italy and as interest in football continues to spike across North America, we are proud and excited to be named an official content partner of Serie A in the United States and look forward to bringing Serie A’s historic and exciting match content to a wider fan base.”

Minute Media operates three digital sports content platforms, including The Players’ Tribune and FanSided, with a reach of 60 million daily users.
