US banking giant Citi has today (August 8) been unveiled as a worldwide partner of golf’s iconic biennial Ryder Cup men’s competition between Team Europe and Team US through 2025.

As the event’s official financial services partner, Citi card members will receive discounts on merchandise and concessions offered at the 2023 event, which is taking place near Rome, Italy, between September 29 and October 1.

Card members will also receive first access to tickets through a pre-sale for the 2025 edition of the Ryder Cup, held at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.

As part of the agreement, Citi also becomes the presenting partner of Ryder Cup Radio, and its branding will gain visibility around the golf course and on the global television broadcasts during the competition.

The partnership will also have various activations across Ryder Cup’s digital channels throughout the contract.

Tina Davis, Citi’s chief marketing officer, said: “We’re thrilled to team up with the Ryder Cup as it provides us with a platform to help make the game of golf more accessible for fans of all backgrounds through ancillary programs and community engagement.

“We also look forward to offering our card members and clients the chance to experience one of the sport’s largest global stages.”

Ryder Cup director Guy Kinnings added: “We are delighted to welcome a company of Citi’s global scale and reputation to the Ryder Cup worldwide partner family.

“Rome promises to be a spectacular backdrop for the 2023 match and as official financial services partner, there will be scope to offer Citi customers exclusive offers that will help elevate their experience when following golf’s greatest team contest.”

The new partnership comes two weeks after DP World, the global logistics heavyweight, was announced as a worldwide commercial partner of this year’s Ryder Cup.

Event organizers also announced a consultancy partnership with Roc Nation Sports International (RNSI), the entertainment and sports management company owned by US rapper Jay-Z, in late June.
