Spanish public service broadcaster RTVE will continue to showcase Extreme E for the 2024 season after agreeing a rights renewal with the all-electric motor racing series.
As part of the renewal, RTVE will televise all ten of this season’s races on its free-to-air linear channel and its website.
This includes race highlights reviews and magazine shows as well as live coverage, all on RTVE’s primary channel, Teledeporte.
Additionally, the races will be live-streamed on the station’s digital platform, www.rtve.es.
Ali Russell, managing director at Extreme E, said: “We are delighted to have extended our broadcast agreement with RTVE today as we prepare for Season 4 of the championship.
“RTVE is not only one of Spain’s premier broadcasters, but the organization also shares many of Extreme E’s core values - both vital criteria in bringing our environmental message to as many people as possible.”
Last month commercial Irish broadcaster Virgin Media Television also renewed its agreement with Extreme E, after renewing its rights deal for two more years.
Virgin Media has broadcast live races and highlight shows since the series’ inaugural 2021 season on VMTV and its coverage will continue to air both for the final 2024 Extreme E campaign, which begins on February 17 in Saudi Arabia.
Last December meanwhile, heavyweight sports broadcaster ESPN and Extreme E extended their broadcast rights tie-up in Latin America, extending a relationship that began with the inaugural 2021 season.
In mid-September, UK commercial broadcaster ITV extended its coverage deal with Extreme E for the 2024 campaign, while coverage in the US is provided by a combination of Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Earlier this month, meanwhile, Extreme E announced the renewal of its partnership with tire manufacturer Continental, the championship’s official tire supplier and a founding partner.
