Scottish soccer's Rangers have announced a partnership with financial technology company Ebury in a multi-year deal.
The partnership, set to run through the end of the 2025-26 season, will see the firm serve as Rangers’ official foreign exchange (FX) transfer partner.
The service, which performs transactions in over 130 currencies, across over 200 countries, will work alongside Rangers to “support the local business network in Scotland,” according to Rangers chief commercial officer (CCO) Karim Virani.
Virani stated: “We have incredible support from all of our fantastic partners and being able to add another successful global business such as Ebury to our portfolio is a fantastic milestone and further validation of the value Rangers Football Club can deliver to businesses around the world.”
The partnership is Ebury’s first in Scotland. The firm is already the official FX partner of English Premier League soccer side Fulham.
The firm has been growing its sports sponsorship portfolio in recent months, with Dutch soccer giants PSV Eindhoven and American football franchise the Jacksonville Jaguars both announced as Ebury partners in 2023.
Most recently the firm partnered with Belgian soccer side Standard Liege, showcasing the pan-European aims of its sports sponsorship strategy, which it hopes to use as a platform to support businesses in each country.
Ebury UK country manager Phil Monkhouse stated of the Rangers partnership: “Partnering with Rangers is a testament to our commitment to the local community. Rangers' sense of tradition, competitive spirit, and incredible fan base is why we're not just sponsors; we're fans, dedicated to the development and success of Scottish businesses.”
Rangers CCO Virani began the role in August 2023, following the appointment of previous club CCO James Bisgrove as the club’s new chief executive.
Virani had previously served as the CCO at English Premier League side West Ham United and joined Rangers from fan engagement platform Socios.com where he was director of global partnerships.
