Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the French sporting giants, have announced the permanent appointment of Victoriano Melero as chief executive.

Melero has been acting chief executive of the club since February 2023, after predecessor Jean-Claude Blanc departed for the multi-sport ownership group Ineos.

Prior to this, Melero had been at PSG as general secretary since 2017, overseeing the digitalization of  PSG’s services and the establishment of a new corporate social responsibility and compliance department, among other achievements.

Since stepping in as acting chief executive, Melero has also overseen the development of the Ligue 1 team’s new training center in Poissy, and perhaps most notably the purchase of a minority shareholding in the club by private equity firm Arctos Partners.

In taking up the role permanently, Melero will continue to oversee club operations and new projects while reporting to club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.

PSG stated that these projects will particularly include “infrastructure development, innovation, revenue diversification, reinforcing strategic partnerships, strengthening ties between Paris Saint-Germain and its stakeholders, and the brand’s global influence.”

Al-Khelaïfi stated of Melero’s permanent appointment: “Victoriano has been a key figure in our success over the past seven years and will help drive further commercial growth, performance, and innovation across our company.

“This leadership announcement reflects our commitment as a club to promote our people and to constantly grow – as a sports institution, a global brand and business, and a collective community.”

Melero added: “I am honored to take on this new role at such an important time for Paris Saint-Germain. Thanks to the mobilization of all our teams, our priority will be to consolidate the club's foundations and strengths to become a leader in sports performance, innovation and growth.”

Prior to joining PSG, Melero served at the French Football Federation soccer governing body as deputy general manager from 2013 through 2017.
