UK and Ireland pay-TV network Premier Sports has secured the rights to broadcast this year’s Copa America, the South American national teams soccer competition.

As part of the deal, all 32 matches will be broadcast live exclusively on Premier Sports across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

The tournament will be played across 14 cities in the US from June 20 to July 14.

The Copa America was previously shown in the UK by public-service broadcaster the BBC.

Dentsu, the Japanese advertising giant, holds exclusive global consulting and commercial sales rights to the Copa America in a 10-year deal with Conmebol, the South American soccer confederation, running to 2028.

The agreement represents Premier Sports' first major sports rights deal since it bought back the Viaplay UK channels earlier this month.

The 48th edition of the 16-team Copa America will return to the US for the first time since 2016 when that tournament set a new attendance record with nearly 1.5 million fans.

Defending champions Argentina will open the tournament against Canada at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
