Premier Boxing Champions secures Amazon Prime as broadcast partner

Prime Video will distribute PBC’s pay-per-view (PPV) events in the US, starting in March 2024.

Prime Video, the global streaming service of e-commerce giant Amazon, has signed a multi-year rights agreement with the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) promotion.

Under the new deal, Prime Video will distribute PBC’s pay-per-view (PPV) events in the US, starting in March 2024.

PBC PPV fights will be available for all viewers to purchase regardless of Prime membership, and in the US and select other countries, Prime Video will exclusively stream PBC Championship Boxing matches

Additionally, Prime Video will produce original content such as a behind-the-scenes PBC docuseries, live weigh-ins, and provide on-demand access to previous events, highlights, and archival footage.

With Prime’s incredible reach and unprecedented marketing power, we’re very excited to reach new audiences for our sport as we continue to present the most exciting, competitive and biggest fights in Boxing.”

PBC, which was founded in 2015, has a roster of over 150 active fighters across weight divisions, including current world champions. Some of its flagship bouts in 2023 include David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant, Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. Ryan Garcia, Errol Spence vs. Terence Crawford, and Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo.

Earlier this week, Amazon Prime’s coverage of the National Football League’s (NFL) ‘Thursday Night Football’ (TNF) clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks averaged 15.26 million viewers, meaning the fixture became the most-streamed in NFL history.

At its peak, 17.76 million viewers tuned in last week (November 30) to see the Cowboys win 41-35, beating the previous highest-streamed TNF game in Week 2 (September 12), when 15.1 million viewers watched the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Minnesota Vikings.

The game also became the most-watched NFL clash on Amazon Prime since it took over exclusive broadcast rights to TNF ahead of the 2022 season. The streaming platform has broadcast TNF in some capacity since 2017 either through its primary service of gaming-focused free streaming site Twitch.
