Pirelli announced as official tire partner of 2023 GT World Cup

Pirelli will provide all the tires for the annual motor racing event until 2025.

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has announced that performance tire giant Pirelli will be the official tire partner and official tire supplier of its Grand Touring (GT) World Cup in a three-year tie-up.

The competition will use Pirelli tires in its 2023-25 editions as a part of the deal.

The GT World Cup, an annual cup competition for grand touring specification (GT3-Spec) cars, is held annually at the Macau Guia Circuit in Macau and will take place in 2023 between November 16 and November 19.

Pirelli has been tied up with GT3 racing for several years, having provided the tires for the very first edition of the GT World Cup in 2015, as well as the 2018 FIA GT Nations Cup competition and both editions of the FIA Motorsport Games.

The FIA's senior circuit sport director Marek Nawarecki stated: “Pirelli brings a wealth of experience from various forms of motorsport, has an established working relationship with the FIA through different disciplines and series, and has a very strong presence in the worldwide GT3 marketplace. This is a natural partnership for the FIA GT World Cup that makes sense for a lot of reasons.”

The announcement comes off the back of October’s revelation that Pirelli will continue as the global tire partner and provider of Formula 1, the FIA’s elite tier single-seater motor racing series.

The deal will last until at least the end of the 2027 season and contains an option for an extension for a further year.

This means that by the end of the deal, Pirelli will have been the tire provider of the sport for 18 straight years, having first signed on in the role ahead of the 2011 season.
