OneFootball and Bundesliga renew deal in Brazil through 2025-26

The platform will continue to provide coverage of all matches from the Bundesliga and second-tier 2. Bundesliga.

OneFootball, the international soccer content portal, has renewed its broadcast partnership with German soccer's Bundesliga in Brazil for another three years.

The new agreement will run through the end of the 2025-26 season and began for the German Super Cup clash between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig last Saturday (August 12).

Through the extended deal, OneFootball will continue to provide coverage of all matches in the top-flight Bundesliga and second-tier 2. Bundesliga.

The platform said its objective is to expand the free digital distribution approach of the leagues. The partnership will feature a wide range of Bundesliga original products and content, including alternative feeds (such as action on social media channels during matchdays, interaction, and tactical content around the games), as well as original off-pitch storytelling, exclusive interviews, and short-form clips.

All live and on-demand content will be available for free on the OneFootball mobile app, as well as on the platform's website and app on Smart TVs.

Highlights, short clips, interviews, and other content produced by the Bundesliga will be offered through OneFootball Player, which has partnerships with several media outlets in Brazil.

The partnership between OneFootball and the Bundesliga started in the 2020-2021 season, before which a three-year deal was struck.

It was recently announced that Brazilian YouTube channel CazéTV will air one game per week during the upcoming 2023-24 season.

That deal was signed off by the Bundesliga with Livemode, the Brazilian sports marketing agency which manages CazéTV, which is run by prominent Brazilian streamer Casimiro Miguel.

Yannick Manuel Ramcke, head of OTT at OneFootball, has now said: “We are delighted that another football league has chosen OneFootball as a platform to connect with an international audience.

“The Bundesliga's production and in-house content portfolio is market-leading among the world's biggest football competitions and ahead of the curve in terms of innovation. We look forward to not only bringing all of their matches live and highlights for free to the Brazilian public, but also offering new experiences and ways of watching football to our digital native community.”

Brazilian players currently plying their trade in the Bundesliga include Iago for Augsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Tuta.

The new season begins on Friday (August 18) when champions Bayern Munich face Werder Bremen in the opening game.

AI in sports mainly focuses on employing machine learning and computer vision technologies

The sports industry’s adoption of AI will focus on computer vision (CV) and machine learning (ML). Successful applications of ML have helped the decision-makers at sports companies, broadcasters, and leagues find underlying trends in vast datasets. This analysis informs their strategy, on and off the pitch. CV is mainly used in training, officiating, performance analysis, and injury prevention. Many teams using this technology have reported a decline in lost days due to injury. There is untapped potential for generative AI in sports.
