US women’s soccer’s top-tier NWSL competition has announced a new partnership with sports-focused video content provider WSC Sports around its artificial intelligence (AI) powered highlights platform.
The video technology will utilize its proprietary AI service on video content disseminated across the range of NWSL’s social media and digital channels.
This will most prominently be seen through the use of WSC’s AI highlights service to create videos around games in real-time.
WSC will provide this service to over 150 games in the 2024 NWSL season, analyzing each fixture and ultimately creating “thousands of hours” of content around the league.
In November 2023, the NWSL agreed lucrative, long-term domestic media rights deals with broadcasters ESPN, CBS, Amazon, and Scripps through the 2027 season.
The four-year contracts will see 118 games per season distributed across the broadcast partners, widening the NWSL’s coverage greatly, and enhancing its commercial viability.
WSC for its part is partnered with a number of the top sports competitions across the globe, including women’s basketball’s elite WNBA competition, and women’s golf’s Ladies PGA Tour.
The AI firm has partnered with several broadcasters to provide its service across their slates of sports rights, most recently with Spain’s Movistar Plus.
